Peppermint Hot Chocolate On A Stick

Hot chocolate is one of my favorite wintertime treats! Back in September I posted a Fave 5 with a photo of hot chocolate cubes on a stick. I did some research and it actually is easy to make, a little messy but easy nonetheless! I am really happy with how these turned out. I followed this recipe from giver'slog. I recommend checking out her page for more details on the cocoa process. For our version we stuck in candy canes for a more festive tasting experience. Photos and such after the jump.

 >> We just used chocolate we found at our local supermarket. Ghirardelli baking chocolate and a milk chocolate bar chopped and then microwaved at 50% heat constantly stirring every 30-15 seconds. You can find these nice silicone ice cube trays here. (Also, candy cane gnome angel is only optional. Isn't he so cute?)
>>8 oz. chocolate // 1/4 cup cocoa powder + 1/2 cup powdered sugar

>>We didn't want the candy canes to get sticky while we stir so we left the wrappers on about halfway.
Let the chocolate solidify for a couple hours outside or leave it in the refrigerator to speed up the hardening. Carefully remove from the base of the mold, we had a couple broken candy cane sticks! Just stir into a cup of hot milk and enjoy!
